With summer just around the corner, there’s no better time to set yourself a fitness challenge. Whether your goal is to improve an existing skill, try a new activity, or simply get back into shape, there’s no wrong way to get active! The important thing is to go at your own pace and have fun.

Rediscover a favourite childhood activity

What did you like to do as a kid? Tennis, ice skating, roller skating, hula hooping, jump roping, cycling, swimming? Take advantage of the nice weather to rediscover your old pastimes! But what about when the weather’s not so nice? No problem! You can head to a local fitness centre or try a home workout instead.

Try a new activity

Get out of your comfort zone and try something new! Find out what physical activities are available in your area. You may be surprised! More and more community centres are offering unique and affordable activities for all levels, like African dance, Nordic walking, pickleball, and hot yoga. What piques your curiosity?

Test your limits

Sign up for a distance-based challenge (running, walking, cycling, or swimming), embark on a multi-day hiking trip, tackle an obstacle course, go rock climbing, try a sport that seems hard, organize a friendly competition with fellow sports enthusiasts…The possibilities are endless!

The benefits of physical activity include improved muscular and cardiovascular fitness as well as reduced stress and an increased sense of well-being. The simple act of taking care of yourself and making time for yourself can boost your self-confidence and morale. Remember to focus on what feels good!
